Menu Commands
Many of the menu commands in BumperCar will be familiar to you if you’ve used Apple’s Safari browser or The Omni Group’s OmniWeb, which forms BumperCar’s foundation. Just in case you’re a novice Web browser user, however, we thought we would run down each of its menu commands.
BumperCar Menu
About BumperCar
Shows BumperCar's About panel, which displays the version number and other information.
Hide BumperCar
Hide Others
Show All
The standard menu items for hiding BumperCar and its windows, hiding the windows of other applications, and showing everything that you've previously hidden.
Exit Preschool Mode
Turns off the special "preschool" restrictions and returns to the Safety Settings window.
Quit BumperCar
Quits the BumperCar application.
File Menu
New Browser
Opens a new browser window and loads the Start Page set in the General preferences.
Close
Closes the frontmost window.
Edit Menu
Undo
Redo
The standard Undo and Redo commands.
Cut
Copy
Paste
Delete
Select All
The standard editing commands for selecting items and using the Clipboard; see Mac Help for more information.
Go Back
Go Forwards
Takes you back and forward through the history of pages you've visited in the current browser window.
Find
Find...
Shows the Find panel, which you can use to search for text in the frontmost browser window.
Find More
Finds the next time the text entered in the Find window occurs in the frontmost browser window, after the last place it was found.
Special Characters...
This brings up a utility that allows you to insert special characters in any Mac OS X application. For example, if you need to place an accented letter in a form field, you’ll find it in the Special Characters utility.
Bookmarks Menu
Show Bookmarks Editor
Shows the Bookmark Editor window.
Add Bookmark
Adds the URL for the page in the current browser window to the Favorites bookmark category. It can be moved to a different category using the Bookmark Editor window.
History Menu
Displays every Web site that has been visited recently. You can return to a site by selecting it from the menu.
Safety Menu
Safety Settings...
Opens the Safety Settings window so that you can modify them. Note that you’ll need your Mac OS X administrator password to open the window.
MacParents.Com
A place to find specific information and resources for parents with Macs.
MacTeachers.Com
A place to find specific information and resources for teachers with Macs.
Window Menu
Zoom
Resizes the current window to an optimum size for its contents.
Minimize
Minimize the frontmost window.
Downloads
Opens the Downloads panel.
Bring All to Front
If windows from other applications are obscuring BumperCar's windows, choosing this command will bring all BumperCar windows to the front.
All open BumperCar windows are listed after the Bring All to Front command; choosing a window will bring it to the front.
